Irini Valanto Papageorgiou
ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGER/RESEARCHERIrini Valanto Papageorgiou has been part of AP Marine Environmental Consultancy Ltd since October 2020, initially joining as a Marine Researcher Intern. She holds an MSc in Marine Ecosystem Management from the University of St Andrews. Her academic and research background includes the analysis of jellyfish sightings from citizen science programmes, as well as assessing the impacts of coastal development on marine biodiversity in Cyprus.
Irini has extensive experience in marine fieldwork, including boat-based surveys, scientific diving, and coastal habitat assessment, complemented by laboratory work. Her role also involves data management and statistical analysis for national monitoring programmes, such as artificial reef and fisheries-related projects in Cyprus, as well as contributing to technical report production.
Her interests include scuba diving, underwater photography, environmental data analysis, and the study of biodiversity changes in marine ecosystems.
